About Cerebras

Cerebras builds the biggest computer chip in the world, literally the size of a dinner plate, designed to run AI faster than anything Nvidia makes. While most chip makers cut tiny squares from a silicon wafer, Cerebras keeps the whole wafer intact as one giant chip with 4 trillion transistors. That raw speed is why OpenAI signed a 20 billion dollar deal to run on Cerebras for the next three years.

The case for and against

Both sides of the story, in plain English.

Bull case
  • Suddenly Profitable

Cerebras just flipped from burning cash to keeping nearly half of every dollar it earns, with net margins around 47 percent. Revenue also jumped about 76 percent as demand for AI speed took off. For a company that only went public last year, turning a real profit this fast is rare.

  • Backlog Mountain

Cerebras has 24.6 billion dollars in contracted orders lined up against just 510 million dollars in revenue last year. OpenAI alone committed 20 billion dollars over three years, and Amazon Web Services now offers Cerebras chips inside its Bedrock platform. That is years of revenue already signed on the dotted line.

Bear case
  • Priced For Perfection

The whole company is valued near 50 billion dollars while last year's revenue was only 510 million, so investors are paying a huge premium for future growth. If growth slows even a little, the price has a long way to fall.

  • Concentration Risk

Last year 86 percent of revenue came from just two Abu Dhabi customers tied to the same fund, the worry that delayed the original public offering. Going forward OpenAI dominates the order book, and OpenAI is also building its own chips with Broadcom that could replace Cerebras after 2028. Insider shares also start unlocking around November, which can pressure the price.
