About Cerebras
Cerebras builds the biggest computer chip in the world, literally the size of a dinner plate, designed to run AI faster than anything else on the market. While most chip makers slice tiny squares out of a silicon wafer, Cerebras keeps the whole wafer intact as one giant chip with 4 trillion transistors. That raw speed is why the biggest names in AI are lining up to rent time on its machines.
The case for and against
Both sides of the story, in plain English.
- Profit Machine
Cerebras now keeps about 41 cents of every dollar it brings in, with net margins around 41 percent. Revenue grew roughly 76 percent over the past year as demand for AI speed exploded. Most chip companies take a decade to reach that kind of profitability. This one did it almost immediately after going public.
- Backlog Mountain
Cerebras has 24.6 billion dollars in signed orders waiting to be delivered against just 510 million dollars of revenue last year. OpenAI alone committed 20 billion dollars over three years, and Amazon Web Services now offers Cerebras chips to its cloud customers. That is years of future revenue already locked in on paper.
- Priced Perfectly
The whole company is valued near 58 billion dollars while last year's revenue was only 510 million. Investors are paying an enormous premium for growth that has not happened yet. If results slow even slightly, the stock has a very long way to fall.
- Few Customers
Roughly 86 percent of revenue came from just two Abu Dhabi customers tied to the same fund. Now OpenAI dominates the order book instead, and OpenAI is building its own chips that could replace Cerebras after 2028. Insider shares also begin unlocking around November, which often pushes prices down.
