About Abits Group

Abits Group is a tiny Bitcoin mining company that runs data centers in Tennessee. Think of it like a digital gold mine. It plugs thousands of specialized computers into cheap power, lets them race to earn Bitcoin around the clock, and also rents out space to other miners. It used to be a near-empty Chinese shell company called Moxian, but in late 2023 it changed its name and reinvented itself as a Bitcoin miner.

The case for and against

Both sides of the story, in plain English.

Bull case
  • Real Growth

This is not just a story stock. Revenue actually grew 37 percent last year, climbing to 9.13 million dollars from 6.71 million the year before. The company mined just over 89 Bitcoin during the year and even built up its own stash of Bitcoin on the balance sheet, going from under 3 coins to almost 16.

  • Cheap Power

In mining, the company with the lowest electricity bill wins, and Abits locked in power at about 4 cents per kilowatt hour, which is very cheap. It nearly doubled its computing power to 760 quadrillion calculations per second across two Tennessee sites, and it cut water costs at one facility by 48 percent in a single year.

Bear case
  • Tiny And Fragile

This is one of the smallest companies you can buy, worth only a few million dollars, and it is still losing money, with a net loss of about 2.9 million dollars last year. It has a 3 million dollar loan due in 2027 at a steep 12 percent interest rate, and it had to sell new shares in February just to keep cash flowing.

  • Bitcoin Rollercoaster

The whole business rises and falls with the price of Bitcoin, so when crypto drops, this stock can drop much harder. The shares are wildly volatile, swinging more than 100 percent in a single day recently, and the company is based in Hong Kong and incorporated offshore, which means less detailed reporting than a typical U.S. company.
