About CareDx
CareDx makes blood tests that tell doctors early if a transplanted kidney, heart or lung is being rejected, without surgery to take a tissue sample. Think of it as a smoke alarm for a new organ. It also sells patient support services and is now stepping into cancer monitoring and cell therapy.
The case for and against
Both sides of the story, in plain English.
- Growth Is Accelerating
Revenue jumped 52% year over year to 132 million dollars last quarter, and the company raised its 2026 revenue forecast to between 490 and 500 million dollars. Testing volume grew 17% to about 58,000 tests. Some of the jump was catch-up billing for older tests, but even without it, testing revenue grew about 28%.
- Profits And Cash
Cash profit before some accounting items hit 25 million dollars last quarter, up from 5 million a year ago, and operations produced 31 million dollars of cash. The company ended June with about 374 million dollars in cash and almost no debt, after selling a side business for 171 million dollars.
- Priced For Perfection
The stock has climbed from about 19 dollars at the start of the year to about 69, which values the company near 3.6 billion dollars, or roughly seven times this year's expected revenue. A lot of good news is already in the price, so a stumble could hit hard. The shares are jumpy too: they dropped about 9% in a single day earlier this month.
- Medicare Dependence
Medicare paid for about 30% of total revenue last quarter, so a change in what it pays, or how often tests are allowed, could hurt fast. Medicare has finalized its coverage policy, which removes a big worry, but rules can change again. The company also bought cancer-testing firm Naveris on July 1 for about 162 million dollars, with up to 100 million more possible, and cancer testing is new ground for it.
