About MARA Holdings

MARA runs giant warehouses full of computers that earn Bitcoin, and it keeps almost everything it mines in its own vault. Think of it as part gold mine, part treasure chest. It is now buying up power plants and wind farms so it can make its own cheap electricity, and it is starting to point that same power at AI computing too.

The case for and against

Both sides of the story, in plain English.

Bull case
  • Mining Machine

Revenue jumped 30 percent to 213.9 million dollars in the quarter, and MARA nearly doubled its computing power, up 95 percent from a year ago. It won 666 blocks of Bitcoin in three months, up 81 percent, which is why it is one of the biggest miners on the planet.

  • Owning The Power

Electricity is the biggest bill in this business, and MARA is cutting it out at the source. It bought a 114 megawatt wind farm in Texas, fired up its own gas powered sites, and got its cost per unit of computing down 25 percent in a year. It now pays about four cents per kilowatt hour on the sites it owns.

Bear case
  • Bitcoin Whiplash

MARA lives and dies by the Bitcoin price. It reported a 533.4 million dollar loss for the quarter, and 510.2 million of that was simply its Bitcoin stash being marked down on paper when the price dipped. The business did not burn that cash, but the headline number still looks brutal.

  • Wild Ride

This stock swings more than five times harder than the overall market, so a calm week for everyone else can be a gut punch here. MARA also holds 47,531 Bitcoin worth roughly 3.9 billion dollars, and about 14,269 of those coins are loaned out or pledged as collateral, which adds another layer of risk if things go sideways.
