About Sharplink
Sharplink used to be a sports betting marketing company. Today it is mostly a giant piggy bank of Ether, the second biggest cryptocurrency, and it holds about 887,000 ETH worth roughly 1.4 billion dollars. It puts that Ether to work by staking it, which means lending it to help run the Ethereum network in exchange for rewards, so the stock tends to move with the price of Ether.
The case for and against
Both sides of the story, in plain English.
- Huge Ether Stash
Sharplink held about 886,881 ETH at the end of June 2026, worth roughly 1.4 billion dollars. It has almost no debt, with only 5.6 million dollars in total liabilities, and 56.2 million dollars in cash. If Ether climbs, a stock built on this much of it can climb with it.
- Earns While Holding
Instead of letting its Ether sit still, Sharplink stakes it. Staking brought in about 11.2 million dollars of the 11.5 million dollars in revenue last quarter, and the company has been buying back its own stock, 4.07 million shares for about 41.7 million dollars since August 2025.
- Wild Price Swings
Sharplink lost 394.3 million dollars last quarter, mostly paper losses from the falling price of Ether (321 million dollars) and a 76.1 million dollar write-down. The stock moves far more than the market, and if Ether drops again the stock can drop harder.
- Costs And Dilution
Running the company costs about 9.1 million dollars a quarter, and it used 17.8 million dollars of cash in the first half of 2026. Staking rewards arrive as Ether, not cash, so the company may sell new shares to pay the bills, which shrinks what each existing share owns.
